Avalanche Licor Beirão 2013

See aasta oli Avalanchil ka kvalifikatsioonisõidud, mis toimusid laupäeval. Mina ei saanud osa võtta ja seega pidin alustama tagant, korraldajad muidugi panid mind kohe esimesse ritta, mis tuli peale kvalifikatsioonisõitjad, ikkagi eelmise aasta võitja.
Raja olin hommikupoolikul korra läbi sõitnud, enamus jaost oli sama, mis eelmine aasta, paar kohta olid teised, samas ei olnud tolmu ja metsas olid juurikad mõnusalt natuke niisked. Ilm oli ilus ja päikesepaisteline.
Stardist minnes oli kohe tunda, et hoopis teine tera kui eelmine aasta, kuna mu ees oli palju hobisõitjaid, õnneks ei olnud seda tolmu, mis eelmine aasta, muidu oleks neist möödumine palju raskem olnud, aga ega see ei tähendanud, et see kerge oli. Kuid ma panin kõik, mis oli mängu, oma kiired jalad, mis igal võimalikul sirgel väntasid nii valusalt kui suutsin ja oma tehnilised oskused.
Palju oli matse, ise õnneks ei jäänud kuhugi vahele, aga nendest hoidumiseks, pidin hoogu maha võtma. Püüdsin eespool startinud naisi, viimasel neljandikul teadsin, et üks on veel kuskil ees. Viimasel kilomeetril linnas andsin jalgadele valu ja olin täiesti läbi, finishi sirgel nägin, et esimene naine finiseeris, mul jäi puudu vaid mõned sekundid, ai see oli valus, olin teinud uskumatult hea sõidu ja siis jäi nii vähe veel puudu täiuslikust tulemusest!
Kuna olin nii väsinud, eelmise päeva xco jalas ja ka selle mäe sprintimised jalas, olin ka tõeliselt pettunud, tahtsin seda võitja särki ka see aasta enda selga ja nii napilt..
Tean, et olin kiireim tulles sealt massi tagant ette. Natuke mett mu kibedale meelele määris see, et Andre, kellel ei läinud oma sõit hästi, jäi mind ootama ja viimastel singlitel sõitis mu taga ja nii sõidu ajal kui hiljem gopro lindilt vaadates kiitis mu sõitmist. Olen temalt õppinud nii palju ja tean, et mul on veel palju areneda, tema laskumisi vaadates tõeliselt silm puhkab, seega kuuldes siirast tunnustust dh sõitjalt oma sõidu kohta annab tõesti hea tunde!

start 2012

This year Avalanche had also qualification rounds on Saturday. As I could not participate, then I had to start from behind, of course organizers had put me on the first line after the qualification riders, as I am the last year´s winner.
I made a practice run in the morning, most of the part was the same as last year, some little changes, there was not so much dust and the roots in the forest were nicely little damp. The day was nice and sunny.
From the start I could feel the difference with last year, I had so many hobby riders in front, luckily there was no dust like last year that would have made the passing really difficult, but it did not mean that is was easy. I put all I had on the line, my fast legs that were pedalling as hard as possible on straight parts and my technical skills.
There were many crashes, luckily I could avoid them, but it costed me some precious time to get pass. I caught women who had started in front, and on last quarter of race I knew there was one more in front somewhere. Last kilometre in the city I pedalled in pain and was exhausted, on finishing straight I saw the first girl finish I missed just few seconds, ouch that was hard, I had made an incredible race and the perfect result was missed out by so little!
As I was totally dead, the xco race day before and the hard sprinting downhill, then I felt so disappointed, I wanted the winners jersey so much to stay on my back and missed it by so close.
I know I had been fastest coming from the back of the bunch. Some cure on my bitter feelings gave Andre, his run had not gone good and he waited for me and last single track sections he rode behind me, he was enjoying to ride and after to watch the gopro tape how I was descending. I have learned a lot from him and I have more to learn, to see him ride is so perfect, so to hear from a dh rider good feedback about my ride makes me very happy!
