Shenzhen!!

Kuna Hiinas igale pool interetti ligi i saa siis, saab väikese viivitusega uudiseid siia pandud.
As in China I could not access all the internet sites, then the news are with some delay.

Tervitused Shenzhenist! (13. august)
Palavusega olen juba see suvi päris hästi harjunud, harjumatu on niiskus.
Minu sõit on esmaspäeva hommikul, Eesti aja järgi kuskil kolme-nelja paiku öösel.

Greetings from Shenzhen! (August 13th)
A short overview of the trip to China and the Universaide village.
The  night before Thursday I started my journey through Helsinki to Hong Kong. Besides me there were other atheletes going from Estonia, fencing girls and beach volleyball girls. On the flight I got to sleep quite a lot, surprisingly, although I was in a middle seat of four people in a row, and in front we just had three seats, so it was difficult to strech the legs comfortably. And on our flight there was a bonus too, a yelling child, whose voice got through even from my eardrops, I dont know what I would have done without them.
To Hong Kong we arrived half passed two local time, the universaide volunteers were waiting and showed eagerly our way to go. With my bike luggage it was really uncomfortable to pass all the check points, and there were many, in Hong Kong two, then we drove on bus to Shenzhen, off the bus through a check point and on the bus again. Then we arrived to Universaide village, all is very similar to Athens olympics, the difference is that all athletes are students and not older than 28. The universaide buses and cars have their own line on highways. In village there are tall appartement throug check points also all the venues have check points to go in. I felt sad about the military boys who all have to stand so straight and look severe, because all the locals just want to be friendly and cheerful. In the morning looking whats for eating, every single one behind the counter wanted to say good morning.
Today morning I went to ride the course. I had change the time in my phone, but as I took out the polar, it was funny to think that I am going training at four oclock in the morning. I knew the track was near so I did not take the bus. On one crossing I took the wrong turn and when I relized it, I figured to ask the check point of another venue, but their English was not a all good, they thought I dont want to take my bike through the check point, but I was trying to ask where is the cycling venue, all the disciplines start at one place. So I did not get help and rode on, then two locals came with bikes and they showed me the way, althought it was hard to communicate with them too. They were eager to know where I am from and is my bike carbon, haha. So I got to the right place in 20 minutes, it took me only 5 minutes to get back after.
Track is ok, ground has these orang colour gravel, and all the way is about 1,5 meters wide where there is one line ridden. Course goes up and down, sometimes quite steep. Its quite in the forest, so I dont know if there will be any spectators besides the start-finish area. There is also a little lake besides the course, I was tempted to jump inside for cooling. I got to ride the course in dry and in rain, it does not change very much, just there are more water and its slippier, but it should not get too swampy. Although it turns some steep uphills into running ones.
Weather is hot and humide. With the heat I have gotten quite used to in this summer, but the humideness is something new. It feels like going into an indoor swimmingpool room when stepping outside. Oh and with this I remembered, rooms are like rooms are, but the toilet and shower is on the balcony.
Today is the opening of Universaide and I get the honour to carry the flag. Tomorrow the Estonian road boys Ronimois and Miilmann are riding. My time will come on Monday, around three and four a.m. in Estonian time.

The opening ceremony was cool. There was so many buses that were driving to it from the village. Th whole 50 minute drive which was mostly on 4 row highway was closed to other traffic, some cars that had taken the road were surrounded by police cars. And there were police men standing besides the road in every 500 meters. And there was so many people just waving to the buses, felt like a super star.

------------------------------------------------------------------
So on Saturday I gave drinks to road boys, it was really hot when they started, boiling, afterwards it got little better, but still. Remember one aussie yelling to the feed zone "fucking hell", at that time it was funny, but I totally understood him when I finished my race on Monday.

Sunday I made two laps on the course and before between and after I got to refresh myself with some cold water, uhh so hot and humide. And after that I just stayed indoors so that I would not boil too much.

The broadcast said it will be cloudy, but it was not. So I did what I could on Monday. And I am happy with my silver, that was everything I got in my body that day. Really great to get a medal!

The heat got me quite hard Monday, Tuesday I could not eat much, well one thing was that I had no appetite, but another that every time I went outside I got sick, even water wanted to come back up the same way it went in. So I am happy to be back in Estonia right now. Although I am very tired and have to pack for tomorrow as I am going away again, this time to Switzerland.
